1. What is a vehicle wrap?
Vehicle wraps are large sheets of adhesive-backed vinyl film that come in a huge variety of colors or printed graphics with matte, satin or gloss finishes. They can be applied to cover part or all of the vehicle. Once in place they look like the surface of the vehicle has been painted. However, vehicle wraps are much cheaper and much less permanent.
2. What do vehicle wraps cost?
It varies, mostly because each wrap is custom-designed for the vehicle it goes on, and the color, graphics, or branding it will feature. Vehicles larger than a car like vans and trucks will need more square footage printed, increasing materials costs. A complete wrap, which covers door jambs, inner door frames, and sills are more expensive than a partial wrap. Elaborate designs will be more expensive than simple ones due to the design work and complexity involved.
3. Will a vehicle wrap damage your paint?
Vehicle wraps are safe to apply and safe to remove. While they are in place they may help to protect your paint from wear and tear by adding an extra layer between your paint job and the elements. In fact, some auto owners use vehicle wraps exclusively as a protective coat, helping to keep the vehicle below looking fresh and clean. However, be careful that ALL installations and removals are handled by experts. Poor service can result in scratches, poor adhesion, or even paint stripping.
4. What happens if my wrap gets damaged?
Depending on the level of damage and the design on your vehicle wrap, all or part of the installation may need to be removed and replaced. Typically the damage will be localized enough that the affected section can be isolated and carefully removed, leaving the rest of the wrap in place. A new piece of film is then installed to cover the gap and the finished result looks just like new. If there is too much of the wrap to repair, or if the level of wear means that a freshly printed piece won’t fit in, you may have to start over from scratch.
5. How long will the wrap last?
That depends on what quality of material you pay for and how much sunlight and rain your wrap is exposed too – as well as the color and design. Some designs may show wear faster than others, while sunlight and weathering will degrade the surface more quickly. A high quality material, cared for properly, can last up to five years, and once it is removed the vehicle below will still look great.
